From storm windows to three divisions

Harold “Bud” and Marge Knoll founded a small shade company in St. Louis and moved it home to Freeburg the same year. The family still owns it, and the windows still come out of Missouri.

  1. 1949 Quaker Shade Co. is founded in St. Louis and relocates to Freeburg, Missouri.
  2. 1954 The first Quaker storm windows go into production.
  3. 1961 Quaker builds its first prime aluminum replacement windows.
  4. 1985 Vinyl windows join the line.
  5. 1988 Quaker becomes one of the first manufacturers to build aluminum, vinyl, and wood-clad windows under one roof.
  6. Today Family-owned, with headquarters in Freeburg, a second campus in Eldon, and three divisions serving projects across North America.
